If you are trying to whisk away from the stress of everyday life and need some rest and relaxation, I definitely recommend a getaway to the Poconos.
This week, we started off our Monday on an adventure road trip to Silver Birches Resort in Hawley, PA for a two night stay.
It’s within a 2 hour drive from New Jersey and it’s incredibly convenient and you’ll get some awesome views just while driving there! I’m always a fan of vacations where the scenery driving brings you joy!
The resort is located in a quiet community surrounded by the scenic Lake Wallenpaupack. They have a really cool concept and offer several types of accommodations including vintage hotel rooms, suites in their historic inn, different sized houses for larger groups, and cottages which are perfect for families and have a trully home feel.
We stayed at cottage 117 which has two bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen, living room with gas fireplace and one bathroom with stand up shower which was great because the boys are used to it and we did not need a bathtub. All rooms come with Keurig coffeemakers, flat-screen TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi. Cribs and rollaway beds are available upon request. It also had a lovely deck with table and chairs that I enjoyed relaxing at while the boys played ball in the lawn right in front of our cottage.

I must also mention that one bedroom had a bunk bed and the kids were super excited! It had a window with a partial lake view and they would stay in bed in the morning looking at the lake and searching for birds.

On our first day we just stayed around the cottage and went down the docks to explore the lake. There is plenty of areas to sit down and picnic at. You can also just sit down on the docks and try fishing or just enjoy the lake breeze. The kids had a great time just plunking rocks in the water. They could stay there all day if I let them! 🙂 The vibe is calm and serene and it really is a place to just unwind and relax.

Before settling in for the night on Monday, we decided to sit down on the dock by the lake and watch the sunset. We brought some fishing rod for the kids, just for fun! But I heard people really fish on Wallenpaupack Lake. It was so relaxing and watching the sunset from the dock was the most beautiful thing ever.

The next morning we wanted to go hiking and explore some waterfalls with the kids, but nothing crazy because they are only 2 and 4 years old and cant really do big hikes. So if you feel adventurous and want to explore around Hawley the front desk staff is super friendly and will give you direction and tips of things to do. They recommended Promise Land State Park which is only 15 minutes from the hotel. It was beautiful and I am glad we took the time to go explore!

There is also a lot of activities to do in the resort depending on the season. Silver Birches Resort has plenty of water activities available to their guests as well as larger boat rentals available for an additional fee. Right now their pool is closed for renovations and it was also still cold for water activities but there are tons of things to do of adventures to do around.

Also if you are looking for a place to eat, they have their own waterfront restaurant called The Dock on Wallenpaupack. They have both indoor seating and deck dining that serves delicious meals. I was glad they also had many kid-friendly options and the pizza was delicious. Because of the current circumstances we don’t feel comfortable dining out with the kids because they don’t stay still and touch everything, so we order takeout and it was perfect to eat on the benches by the lake or by the fire pit lounge.

At the end of the day, there is nothing like sitting by a fire pit to unwind. Have some wine or enjoy a complimentary champagne toast to drink in the sunset. The kids were so excited to sit by the fire and we had a great quality family time.

Whether you are looking for a family getaway or a romantic escape, Silver Birches Resort on Lake Wallenpaupack truly has something for everyone and I enthusiastically suggest experiencing it yourself. The resort really provides that peaceful and relaxing vibe while providing modern conveniences in a family friendly environment. I definitely want to go back during summer time to enjoy all the water activities with the kids.

I wanted to thank Silver Birches Resort for hosting my family. We were invited to stay and enjoy our time there with no obligation of a review. This is me honestly sharing our experience there.
