Tips To Prepare For A Safe Summer

Summer is finally here and I know many of us are excited to finally spend a “normal” few months outside with neighbors, friends, and family. It means lots of time outdoors, BBQs with friends and neighbors, gardening vegetables and fruits, and summer cleaning both inside and outside. It’s about spending quality time with the ones we love. However, with all the excitement there should be some tips and rules for your kids to have fun but also safe summer.

Have A Check List To Close Up For The Night

There are a few basic things that you can do to keep your home and your kids safe this summer. One important point to do is to make a checklist of all the things that you need to do before you go to bed each night. Some of these items can be checking the windows and door ( and making sure they are closed and locked up tight ). You should also make sure that this includes the window, as many of us enjoy the fresh air in the summer and forget to close them when the night occurs. Similarly, this also goes hand in hand with your blinds. Of course, you’ll want them open to let in natural light but you don’t want them open all the time. This also serves the double duty of ensuring that your windows are closed and preventing robbers to scope out your home from the outside.

Feel Safe When On Vacation

While it might not be the best time to travel, you might want to leave your home for a few days. If you are leaving for an extended period, you want to make sure things are safe in your home. If you are hoping to receive some packages while you are away, ask a neighbor, family, or friend to take your boxes for you so it looks like you are home, and the same thing goes with your mail so it doesn’t pile up. Set a timer for your lights to go on and off during certain times of the day to also look like you are home. Similar to asking neighbors to grab your mail, also see if they can just keep an eye out on your home while you are away.

Install A Home Security System

If you want full peace of mind, one of the best things you can to prepare for a safe summer is installing a home security system. A popular and worth looking into a business called Tech Services of NJ provides these devices as well as other services. They are a reliable company who have professional and experience in security integration for your home and buildings. They also specialize in alarm system repairs in NJ. These security systems can include motion sensors, and 24/7 monitoring to alert authorities which allows everyone to feel safe at night. Once these fire and security systems are in place in your home, you will have peace of mind knowing your family and valuables in your home will be safe at all times.

Stay Hydrated

One of the biggest things we forget is to stay hydrated. Continuously fill water bottles or have drinks out for friends, neighbors, and guests if they are over for a play date. Be sure to have at least one glass of water when you wake up in the morning to start your day on the right foot and allow your kids to see you doing this to role model for them as well. Take hydration breaks every hour to two hours. If water isn’t your thing, add berries or various fruits to your water for more flavor.

Don’t let the summer months get your guard down. Some many criminals or individuals take on the warm weather because they know you can be careless to not set alarms, enjoy the cool weather windows open at night and forget to lock your doors. There are a variety of basic things that you can do to keep your home and family safe this summer and these are just a few things to assist you.
