Kittatinny Campgrounds – Our Stay at the Evergreen Riverview Cabin

We received free lodging at this camping. All opinions are my own.

Our cabin

This past weekend we escaped the craziness of the city and headed to the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York to spend a few days at Kittatinny Campgrounds.

Kittatinny is the pioneer of the river outfitting industry and has been operating on the Delaware river for 80 years! Their multiple locations are strategically located to provide a diverse selection of river trips and give you the best in riverfront camping. With two campgrounds across two states, there is plenty of space to discover the beauty of the Pocono and Catskill Mountains.

Kittatinny Campgrounds has long been our family summer getaway destination. Before Gabriel was born in 2017, we used to go for a camping trip at the Kittatinny every year. We always enjoyed it so much! The contact with nature, unplugging, the sounds of the river and all the river water sports made us want to plan a getaway every summer.

So this year, I wanted to take the boys to experience some of the things we love about Kittatinny.

The only difference is that instead of the classic tent camping, we stayed at their new cabins which embraces all of the most awesome aspects of camping without the hassle of bringing and setting up tons of gear, specially when you have two little kids.

The Evergreen Riverview cabins are beautiful and cozy and offer the benefits of camping without the hassles and inconveniences of sleeping in a tent. Our cabin had all the luxuries we love- full kitchen (with oven) and stocked with all the kitchen basics like coffee maker and toaster, full bathroom with nice and hot shower, A/C and heat, a comfy Queen sized bed and bunk bed for the kids (sleeps up to 6), TV in the bedroom and in the living room, a charcoal grill, fire ring and a picnic table.

I posted a video tour of the cabin you can watch here on Instagram.

Plus, you get to experience the magic of the Delaware right from the privacy of your own front porch!

Exactly what we needed for a relaxing, hassle free, weekend getaway. I basically only packed food and clothes!

The Kittatinny campground has no cell phone reception in order to encourage guests to unplug from technology and plug into nature and each other. The only sites that have Wi-Fi are the cabins and the camp store. It was a great addition having internet specially because I’m a content creator and I’m always posting on social media, however this place is so peaceful and perfect to relax and enjoy your family that we committed to not use our cell phones except for taking photos and videos which I would post later on the day before going to bed.

The camp store is where you go for check in and check out and you can also buy a ton of cool souvenirs, wood for your fire pit, ice cream and camping essentials in case you forget something.

At Kittatinny you can enjoy the fresh mountain air where the Poconos meet the Catskills. You can lay back, relax and drift along on the Delaware river. It’s so peaceful to just sit by the river and enjoy some sunshine! We spent a couple of hours by the river everyday!

Delaware river

Kittatinny offers kayaking, canoeing, tubing, and rafting. But because of my boys age, the only activity we were allowed to do was rafting. We scheduled it for Saturday and started to prepare my 3 year old who does not like to be inside of boats. When we went to check in, they informed us that rafting trip generally lasts between 3-4 hours so knowing my kid was afraid of being in the boat inside the water we decided not to do the activity.

Rafting

But I definitely want to try when he is a bit older. And I definitely recommend any water sport by the river. We have done tubing the past times we visited and Kittatinny transports you upriver to a launch site that will send you on a 3-mile float trip. It’s super cool, fun and relaxing!

And for those families looking for something more challenging, they also offer dual racing zip-lines which seems like a great adventure!

Besides the water activities, there are many natural spots around the camp for family walk or even hiking, a beautiful water creek which makes for great photography and bird watching.

We check in on Thursday evening and stayed until Sunday evening. It was the best weekend getaway to unwind, relax and enjoy each other before school is back in session.

My boys played ball, they swam around the Delaware river, they played with sand and had the best time around the campground enjoying the fire pit and making s’mores every night!

If a getaway means a way to unplug and connect to the great outdoors, I definitely think Kittatinny Campgrounds is the place to go! Located just 2 hours from NYC, it’s a great and quick way to escape the city!

We are huge fans of Kittatinny and cannot wait to visit again next year. If you’re looking to escape from the everyday grind, a cabin with river view is the perfect way to unwind, clear your mind, and connect with loved ones and nature.

Let me know in the comments if you have any questions. I will happily help you out. Also, if you go to my Instagram you can check out more photos and a stories highlights with all details in video of our stay!
