Our Stay at The Hotel Hershey, PA

My family was given complimentary stay at The Hotel Hershey through the Sweetest Families Blogger Program 2023. As always, all opinions are my own.

If you are thinking about coming to Hersheypark and are wondering where to stay, The Hotel Hershey is the place!

While there are plenty of places to stay while visiting Hershey in PA, there is nothing compared to staying and experiencing one of the official resorts of Hersheypark. You can pick between The Hotel Hershey, The Hershey Lodge or Hersheypark Camping Resort.

Last weekend we packed our swimsuits and drove to The Hotel Hershey for an overnight stay. We live 10 minutes from Hershey and it was a fun way to escape for a staycation so I am excited to share a little bit of our experience and I hope I can help you if you are planning to visit soon.

About the Hotel

The Hotel Hershey was opened by chocolatier Milton S. Hershey in 1933 and is a one-of-a-kind destination with rich history. Is located high atop the town of Hershey, and it’s known for its refined elegance, signature service and abundant amenities and is a recipient of the Forbes Four-Star Award and the AAA Four-Diamond Award.

From the moment you drive to the the parking lot/ valley parking you are surrounded with beautiful landscaping. Everything is so pretty and well taken care of.

At check in you already feel the hospitality. They go over all the information you need and each family member gets a chocolate bar!

Check in treats

Check in is at 4pm and we arrived at 12pm. They were very accommodating, asked if we needed to have our luggage in a storage until the room was ready and already gave us the room keys and checked us in.

The weather was beautiful, hot and sunny so we headed to the pool while waiting for our room to be ready.

The outdoor pool complex features a huge family pool with zero grade entry, two large slides and a kiddie spray deck. There is also an infinity edge adult pool and whirlpool.

They also offer poolside cabanas for an additional charge. The poolside cafe makes it convenient to grab lunch, snacks and drinks while enjoying the pool.

In addition you don’t need to worry about towels as they give fresh towels for the pool. There is a changing room and free SPF which I thought was genius! They really think about the details!

Accommodations

Our room was ready before 4pm and they let you know by sending a text message. The boys were having a blast at the pool so we stayed for a while before going up.

We stayed at a two queen sized beds room. Everything was clean and had the charm of the 1930’s. We also had a beautiful view of the garden and the fountain lake.

All the rooms have WIFI, TV, refrigerator, Kehrig coffee maker, bathrobes and toiletries.

Activities at the Hotel

After enjoying a nice and warm shower at our cozy room, we headed outside to explore the beautiful grounds of the resort.

The Hotel offers a daily schedule of family-friendly activities ranging from s’mores roasts and chocolate bingo to Hershey Character appearances and glow putting. During summer months, they also have outdoor movies, gaga ball, skee golf and much more.

The Cocoa Clubhouse is a space for kids to enjoy some craft activities, meet new friends and play a variety of games. They also offer kids night out which you can leave kids age 5-13 with them for an additional fee. Kids will participate in a bunch of activities while parents can enjoy a night off.

There is a playground, a hiking trail (5.5 miles) and an outdoor sports complex featuring basketball, volleyball, tennis, pickleball, croquet, Spikeball, bocce ball, shuffleboard, cornhole and soccer.

Dining at The Hershey Hotel

After playing outside with the boys we went to check a place to have dinner. The options were great and so convenient to just walk around and find a place to eat instead of having to drive somewhere.

The places vary from grab and go to fine dining. We were in the mood for some Italian food and Trevi 5 was the perfect spot! We enjoyed some authentic and modern Italian cuisine and will definitely be going back there more often!

More amenities

After dinner we walked around the garden and the kids wanted to go play a little bit at the indoor pool.

The indoor pool stays open until 9pm. We arrived there at 8pm and it was a perfect and relaxing way to end the night. While the boys played in the pool, we relaxed at the whirlpool.

Benefits of Staying at The Hotel Hershey

The next day I woke up and enjoyed some coffee in our room while cozying up on the nice robe and taking the beautiful garden view.

If you are coming to go to Hersheypark, I would definitely recommend at least two nights stay so that you can plan to spend a whole day enjoying all the beautiful things and fun activities that the resort has to offer.

Because we have season passes and are always going to the park we decided to just spend our time at the resort and not go to the park, but I wanted to share with you all the benefits you receive by staying at The Hotel Hershey.

All guests of The Hotel Hershey receive additional free resort benefits, including access to 2 award-winning golf courses at Hershey Country Club, preferred pricing to ZooAmerica, and complimentary admission to Hershey Gardens and The Hershey Story’s Museum for everyone checked in.

Now if you are planing to visit Hersheypark during your stay, the park is less than 5 minutes from the hotel and one of the perks of staying at The Hotel Hershey is that you can get a shuttle from the hotel to the park for free. No need to pay for parking! They also offer an hour early access to the park with selected packages and up to 3 extra evening hours preview so you can go visit the park 3 hours before closing and get familiar with everything for the next day!

My review of The Hotel Hershey

We had the best staycation at The Hotel Hershey. We really wanted to have some quality family time and this was the perfect idea. Even though we had a brief visit ( we arrived Saturday 12pm and left Sunday evening) we were able to enjoy a lot of what the hotel has to offer.

From all the historical charm and beautiful gardens, the indoor and outdoor pool, the delicious food, the variety of shopping available on site and the fun family friendly activities all day! We had such a great time!

I also recommend visiting the Hershey Garden! It’s beautiful and they give you free admission when you stay at the hotel.

We didn’t have time to go because we planned to spend the last day relaxing at the pool complex, but the tickets were valid for one week and I was able to take the boys during the week to check it out. I will soon share a post about our experience. Stay tuned!
